My name is Christen, and I am the sole owner, operator, and trainer here at Smarty Paws K9 University. In 2009, my career officially began but I have been working with dogs my entire life in some way or another. Acquiring my evaluator license in 2010 through American Kennel Club for their Canine Good Citizen Program, allowing me to evaluate for all 4 CGC Levels, Trick Dog Program, Virtual Home Manners Program, as well as their Temperament Testing, and Level 3 Certified Fitness Instructor. In November 2020 I completed my certifications as a Certified Trick Dog Instructor through Do More with Your Dog. Followed by the programs to acquire my Canine Fitness Instructor, Stunt Dog Judge, and Animal Actor Certifications with them as well, making me a Triple Crown Instructor with DMWYD.  Throughout my career, I have worked with over 1000 dogs in my career of all ages and sizes. Today I share my life with a Goldendoodle, named Linc who holds over 20 titles currently and we are having fun working towards more daily. Over the years, up till recently I spent my life with numerous English Mastiffs, a Husky mix, and a Tibetan Mastiff. Positive reinforcement training, lure and reward mostly, is the most important aspect of my training with a sprinkle of Canine Enrichment and Game-Based Training techniques as well. Your relationship with your pup is a lifelong bond. Smarty Paws K9U’s goal is to strengthen that bond, by teaching you proper techniques for cue and ways to curb behaviors that will strengthen your bond even more creating a limitless bond and mutual respect.
